The 50Y investment firm is based in a San Francisco and partners with deep tech companies solving civilisationally impactful problems. The Fifty Years team has backed over 100 deep tech startups from the earliest days and helped them raise over $4.5B.

The Fifty Years team runs a successful company creation programme called 5050, which operates in the USA and the UK. In the USA, 535 scientists have come through the programme and 115 companies have been established. A remarkable 96% of alumni have gone on to successfully raise funds.
The 5050 company-creation programme is a 14-week course in the USA and UK, designed to support PhDs, postdocs and MEngs to become founders. Candidates can be actively building or still exploring early ideas. Two cohorts of 50 early career scientists and engineers are trained each year. The course is designed to teach:
- What company you should build.
- How you turn breakthrough ideas into a startup.
- How you become the greatest founder possible.
5050 is taught by the Fifty Years investor team. The UK 5050 programme is run as a collaboration the Vellos team and is powered by the UK Government's Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA).
