The PRIMED programme is delivered by a set of PhD students and postdocs (called Primers) originating from Universities and Institutions in the city. Primers are responsible for organising events and networking opportunities.
They build a community of PRIMED members who are interested in interacting with similarly minded early career scientists and attending entrepreneurial events. PRIMED members are given sight of events to attend during the year and have a communication channel for inter-PRIMED member discussions. Cambridge is the birthplace of PRIMED, as it is modelled on the Bio-spark programme that has been in operational at the University of Cambridge for many years. As a consequence, Cambridge PRIMED operates through Bio-spark.
From events run so far, over 95% of participants reported a positive shift in their mindset towards careers beyond academia.
